#2940 closed defect (fixed)

math symbol display in russian and hebrew locales

Reported by: pelle@… Owned by: nobody@…
Priority: high Milestone: 1.5.0
Component: frontend-qt4 Version: 1.3.6
Severity: normal Keywords:
Cc: j.spitzmueller@…

Description

There appears to be problems with displaying math characters in certain locales:

"As stated in /usr/share/doc/latex-xft-fonts/README, Qt can't use those
fonts when running in russian locale (and also some other locales)
because of a bug that trolltech refuses to fix.

However, a workaround exists. If LC_TIME locale component is reset to C,
this alters Qt's font selection magic, and enables Qt to load the fonts.

Please make this how lyx-qt provided by package behaves by default if it
is started in russian locale (and probably other affected locales).
This may be done by providing a wrapper script, or by adding several
calls to the code.

This will make lyx-qt usable for russian users to typeset math."

Could a Linux user please test if the bug is fixed in LyX 1.5svn?

Fixed in 1.5 as far as I can see.
I've started both LyX 1.4 and 1.5 with LANG=ru_RU.koi8r and inserted \pi and
\alpha to mathed. 1.4 didn't display the symbols properly, but 1.5 did.

=> fixedintrunk.
