Description
Hi,
this is a forward from the Debian BTS.
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=316535
Aggregated report:
"""
In lyx-qt, the "screen dpi" setting in Preferences has no
effect. It works correctly in lyx-xforms.
Per Olofsson writes:
The Screen DPI setting should probably be removed from
Preferences. LyX should always use the DPI given by X.
That would make the problem worse. What I
actually want to do is get LyX to use my 20-pixel
font for its on-screen text. This is because the
20-pixel font is the most readable for me. The
pixel size is worked out by
screen DPI * zoom setting / 720
but only integer zoom settings are allowed, so
if the screen DPI is not a divisor of 720*20
then it's not possible to find a good zoom setting.
Therefore, it's best if we can control the
screen DPI from inside LyX, or else make it
possible to have non-integer zoom settings or
to choose pixel sizes directly.
"""
I'm not exactly sure about the benefits of the screen dpi setting by hand and
why it doesn't work with the Qt4/Qt2 frontend.
I'll ask the reporter to subscribe himself to this report so that it's possible
to discuss the problem directly without a human proxy.
This should be fixed in LyX 1.5.3, by the fix for #4293. (I don't see it with
latest 1.5.3svn)
Reopen this bug when it is not fixed in LyX 1.5.3.
