This is on OS X 10.4.x on a G4 ibook with the official 1.5.5 package. When you
type the paragraph containing the cursor becomes unreadable (see photo). It
becomes alright again if you click outside the LyX window, or if you scroll
with the mouse wheel. 1.5.3 works fine.

Correction: OS version is 10.3.9, CPU 1.07 GHz PowerPC G4.

Could it be because of Qt4.4?

Confirmed on the users list. Maybe it is a Qt 4.4 problem. Unfortunately I
can't compile anything on that machine.

Can't try, because OS X 10.3.9 is not supported anymore.
