I would love to be able to see misspelled words on the fly. So hereby I wish
for this feature in a future lyx release.

Would it be so difficult to simply add a red underline for
every word added which is not known to aspell?

I have begun a prototype to explore some ways to do that. Any help or ideas are
welcome.

I use flyspell mode on Xemacs, any way to reuse Manuel Serrano's ideas ?

This feature could be a potential resource hog... I would be careful before
adding it to the stable release...

what is the status on this for LyX 1.5.0? It would be great if this were added.
For those who don't want it they could just have an option to turn it off.

Won't be implemented in LyX 1.5, perhaps later.

Claws-mail uses aspell in a way that I think each word is checked after it is
typed, meaning after each space (or .space). If a word is not recognized the
word is colored red. This mechanism is really fast and therefore no performance
hog and has almost the same effect as red underlines. Maybe someone wants to
look into this.

May I suggest a raise in priority for this. As LyX nears professional quality
with the realease of 1.5, this feature has become one of the main weaknesses.

This NECESSARY feature for us "spelling blind" people. I'm a super user of MS-
word - which has it, but for my PhD dissertation, I've decided to use only
LyX.
I found that the MS-word 'check on the fly' has actually improved my spelling,
and I would gladly move to LyX permanently if I had those extra gadgets which
give me the writing confidence.
This gadget could obviously be a turn ON/OFF thing, not permanent. Thus, for
those that it disturbes them, they can just turn it off and forget about it.
Wish I could design it into LyX myself, but I'm dependant on the developers.
Thanks, Erez

I think it is worthwile to mention that it is possible to sponsor the
implementation of this feature: see http://www.lyx.org/Donate towards the end of
the page.

Would be the most useful feature to LyX, I have donated and hope others will.
